1st Pass Driving School – Lesson Information
What is best for you
Take regular lessons maybe two a week. Using the one lesson a week approach may take you longer to learn to drive, it may help spread the cost, but you do end up paying more in the long run, this is because you may forget what you have been previously taught from one lesson to the next.
The training
Your training will be structured so you learn in stages and a planned system of tuition will be put in place to monitor your progress so we know exactly what areas need work and when you will be ready for the DRIVING TEST.
When you start your lessons you will be given the option to use our TRAINING DVD`s.
Prior to each lesson you may watch the lesson you will be doing next. This should give you an understanding of what you are trying to achieve before getting in the car, therefore allowing the instructor to ask a few questions and check the pupils understanding ,The instructor spends less time explaining and allows more time for practice.
How long will it take?
The average pupil usually takes somewhere between 30 and 45Hrs depending on the pupils aptitude and motivation towards driving ,whether you have had past driving experience or how much practice you can get with family or friends as this can reduce the amount of hours you may need.
So the courses described are a guide only to what you may need based on previous experience. So there is no guarantee you will be ready for the Driving Test this depends on the progress of the pupil.
1st Pass Driving School - Intensive Driving Course Information
Why book a course?
Some people prefer to do all their training in a very short period of time sitting the driving test at the end of the training. Although the initial cost may seem high the cost per hour is substantially lower than the list hourly rate. The main advantage is that you can get up to test standard very quickly over a very short period of time.
All of the courses shown below are inclusive of the cost of one *weekday driving test fee (£56.50) and the 2 hours needed to attend the driving test. The driving training is completed in a modern 1st Pass Driving School car and on a one2one basis, we do not double up any of our pupils.
Please Note - No Driving test can be booked without having first passed your Theory Test.
All of 1st Pass Driving School courses are structured to provide driver training up to the D.S.A. driving test. Each pupil has their own detailed Progress Booklet which provides the pupil with an easy way to monitor and track their progress through their driver training with 1st Pass Driving School. The Instructor also maintains a detailed record of the progress made by the pupil.
An assessment drive can be given to determine the suitability of any of the courses offered. This will be charged at normal hourly rate however on booking and making payment for any of the courses listed that amount will be offset against the fee. Although we will try to get you up to driving test standard we cannot guarantee that you will be ready for the driving test at the end of any of the courses. If this is the case then extra hours may be purchased from the instructor.

Private Practice
 |
Unless the learner is at an advanced stage nearing test standard then you are doing them no favours taking them into busy traffic. If you find you are stuck at a junction and the learner is stalling the car the question you should be asking yourself, are we in the wrong place at the wrong time? If not enough time has been spent on the basics then problems will arise later on in the training , check with the learner, ask what they covered on their last lesson, speak to the instructor, get advice on the best way to go about teaching a learner . Work together make it a three way partnership.
How 1st Pass Driving School Can Help With Private Practice
1. If like most learners you want to keep the cost of tuition down and still progress towards test standard, that’s why we encourage private practice whether it be with mum dad or friends well planned private practice can put you on the road to test success
2. We provide free pictorial handouts to pupils, which private practice sessions can be based around. They provide simple, step-by-step guides to maneuvers, road procedure etc.
3. We use log-books to monitor pupils' progress,. The instructor enters what has taken place during lessons and the learner enters what has been practiced privately. This helps keep all parties informed about the progress being made through the recommended syllabus.
